I had always dreamed of becoming Stampede Royalty and last September I believed in myself enough and made my dream come true! It is that time of year again when the Calgary Stampede along with Katie, Janelle and I want to help make three more girl’s dreams come true. I am saddened by the thought of my year as a Stampede Princess coming to an end, but I am also so thankful and excited by what this amazing opportunity has given me.
Now that Stampede 2010 has ended I can easily recall my favorite moment; standing on stage in front of the Grandstand filled with 20,000 people welcoming everyone to The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth – what a breathtaking moment. Katie, Janelle and I were also so very lucky to travel to Vancouver to the Winter Olympics to promote our great city and this wonderful organization. There are countless events that have touched my heart, one that stands out was the day we were blessed to help a little girl fighting cancer fulfill her dream of becoming a cowgirl for the day. It is things like this that truly make being a Stampede Princess everything I wanted it to be. Lastly I cannot forget the most important thing I’ve taken away from this year, friendship. I now have a long standing relationship with the Stampede organization and all its amazing volunteers. To Katie and Janelle, you two have grown into my heart as family, you will always be two of my very best friends and for that I am so thankful for this opportunity!!
