Stampede Mythbusters – It’s the Same Every Year. Or is it?

June 8th, 2010 by Heather Ilsley

It’s the inaugural debut of our Stampede Mythbusters feature.  We’re going to try and address some of the biggest perceptions about the Stampede and see if they hold up or if we can prove them wrong.

Our first myth – Stampede is the SAME every year.

I can understand why this myth manages to pop up every year; the Stampede’s core attractions return for a reason, a lot of people come to the Park to attend them.  But, if you’re looking for something beyond the midway, the rodeo, or the chucks, you CAN find a lot of new and interesting things, you just need to know where to look.

I was browsing on the Stampede website and found a whole section dedicated to What’s New in 2010.  Some of the highlights include an acrobatic ice show, a circus comedy troupe, freestyle motocross, and even a high dive act!  There are many other attractions, so take a peek and I’m pretty sure you’ll find something new that interests you.

If it’s been a few years since you’ve been down to the grounds, you might be surprised at some of the recent additions.  One of my favorites is the Western Oasis (which incidentally is back again for 2010!)  Daily wine tastings in a serene setting might be a surprise to those of you that think of Stampede as a place to drink beer and dodge those cowpatties in the barns.  But, the evolution of Stampede means that it’s attracting a wider audience than ever before, and it’s doing it with new offerings that appeal to a broader demographic.

So, is Stampede the same EVERY year?  Well, if you choose to limit yourself to the same activities year after year it might seem the same, but unfortunately, there’s too many new things on offer each year to allow this myth to stand!
