What’s Happening at Stampede Park: March 22 – 28

Aggie Days may be over, but Stampede Park is as busy as ever with no less than 10 different events happening this week!

A taste: the Oldtimers’ Hockey Challenge, Family-a-Fair, GO Green Expo, the Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show, the PGA of Alberta Golf Show, the National Women in Business Expo, Tim McGraw, and Hedley.

  • First, the NHL’s Calgary Flames take on the Anaheim Ducks at the Pengrowth Saddledome on Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m. in a desperate bid to stay in the playoff race. Tickets for this game are available through Ticketmaster.
  • The Oldtimers’ Hockey Challenge puts NHL legends back on the ice to raise money for charities. These Legends of Hockey will play at the Saddledome on Wednesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in aid of local charities supported by the Calgary Police Association. Notable players participating in this event are former Flames Theo Fleury and Gary Leeman, as well as Glenn Anderson, Bob Probert, Craig Simpson, Bryan Trottier, and Tiger Williams.   • If required, the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen will play game five of their Eastern Conference quarter-finals against the Moose Jaw Warriors at the Saddledome on Thursday, March 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets for this game are available through Ticketmaster.
  • The NLL’s Calgary Roughnecks take on the Minnesota Swarm at the Saddledome on Friday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this game are available through Ticketmaster.
  • Are you a mom or dad (future or present!), grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, childcare provider, teacher or great friend to a child? If so, take in the Family-A-Fair, Alberta’s largest show for expectant parents and families with newborn through pre-school age children! Formerly the Mom & Tots Fair, Family-a-Fair takes place on March 26 – 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the BMO Centre, Hall A. More information about the show and admission can be found here.
  • The Calgary Go Green Expo is the largest of its kind in Calgary! This exciting, two-day event features hundreds of exhibitors, all dedicated to providing information, products and services that can help you live a greener lifestyle! With everything from home and garden ideas, eco-friendly food and clothing, transportation options, organic food and cooking, to guest speakers and interactive displays, the Calgary Go Green Expo offers many simple ways of going green and helping our environment!   • The Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show is the largest show of its kind in Canada. With over 200 exhibitors from a variety of recreational pursuits, this show has something for everyone.   • The PGA of Alberta Consumer Golf Show returns to Calgary! Looking for some new clubs? Need a pre-season lesson to start 2010 off right? Want to find a fantastic deal on last year’s clubs?   • Country music superstar Tim McGraw will be playing at the Pengrowth Saddledome on Saturday March 27 at 7:30 p.m. alongside Lady Antebellum and The Lost Trailers. Tickets for this concert are available through Ticketmaster.
  • Finally, Canadian pop rock band Hedley will be playing at the Stampede Corral on Sunday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. alongside special guests Boys Like Girls and Fefe Dobson. Tickets for this concert are available through Ticketmaster.
