What’s Happening at Stampede Park: December 7 – 13

As Reg wrote a Holiday poem for last week’s edition of What’s Happening to the theme of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, I thought I’d take a stab at it too, this time, to the theme of Let it Snow! Here goes:

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
but the Hockey’s so delightful!
There’s simply no place to go,
but the ‘dome, but the ‘dome, but the ‘dome!

As you can see, this week is all about hockey as the Hitmen and the Flames each host a couple of games at the Saddledome. Do you think we’ll see another amazing save like the one Kipper had the other day against Nichol? Here’s hoping!

The NHL’s Calgary Flames play twice this week as our friends from south of the border come for a visit. The Atlanta Thrashers come to town on Wednesday, Dec 9 at 7:30 p.m. Also coming to experience a little Alberta hospitality is the Minnesota Wild. Game day is Friday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. Tickets for both games are available through Ticketmaster.

Not to be outdone, the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen are also playing this weekend too. They play the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. The following day, Sunday, Dec. 13, the Hitmen take on the Kootenay Ice in what is also the annual Teddy Bear Toss! Teddy Bears are thrown from the crowd to the ice when the Hitmen score their first goal. The bears are then gathered up and donated to charity, so don’t forget to bring your Teddies! Last year, close to 23,000 bears were tossed onto the ice. Game time is at 5 p.m. and tickets for both games are available from Ticketmaster.

As I can’t help myself, I’ll close with one more:

So we finally bid goodbye,
How I’ll hate waiting for next week,
But if you’re really coming back,
then we’ll see you next Monday morn!

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
but the Hockey’s so delightful!
There’s simply no place to go,
but the ‘dome, but the ‘dome, but the ‘dome!

Hope you enjoy the hockey, and we’ll see you next week where we’ll show you some more of the things happening Here. All Year.
