And now, something special for all you loyal Stampede Blog readers:
‘Twas a month before Christmas, and all through the Park,
not a creature was stirring, not even an Aardvark;
But just ’cause things are winding down due to the holiday cheer,
that doesn’t mean there is nothing that is happening down here!There’s dancing and bull riding and a concert or two,
and even a special sale at the Stampede Store for you!
So sit back, relax, and maybe grab a beer,
’cause now we’ll show you some of the things happening Here. All Year.
As I walked through the Park, admiring the trees,
with all their new lights up for everyone to see,
I made my way over to the Grandstand’s parking lot,
and entered the building to get my H1N1 vaccination shot!
First, H1N1 vaccinations are still available for all Albertans aged six months and older, and will continue to be given out this week at the Stampede Grandstand. To find out more information on H1N1 clinic locations and hours, see Alberta Health Services. Parking at the Grandstand Building for the duration of the H1N1 clinic is free. Note that starting this week, the seasonal influenza vaccine will also be available at these immunization clinics.
Now geared up for flu season, I wanted to see,
if there was a way to find a good deal or three,
on gifts to give away, maybe some Western décor?
So that’s when I thought “I’ll head to the Stampede Store!”
The Calgary Stampede Store will be holding their special holiday savings event on Friday, Dec. 4! (Update: The sale has been postponed. We’ll update the Blog with the new date once it becomes available!) This is in addition to their current buy one, get one free promotion on pairs of plush cowboy boot slippers! Stay tuned to the Stampede Blog later in the week for more details on the sale. In the meantime, why not sign up for the Stampede Store’s Loyalty Program to prepare? That way, you’ll be able to maximize your shopping time once you get down here on Friday!
Gifts purchased ahead of time is a wonderful thing,
as it allows one more time to consider everything;
Like “What to do next?” although it’s not a race,
Maybe I’ll go and see Three Days Grace?
Canadian Rock group Three Days Grace will be playing at the Stampede Corral on Monday Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. (please note the venue change). Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
If old-school rock is what you’re craving instead,
and you’re the type that listens to it before going to bed,
then on Tuesday night you’ll want to make it down,
as that’s the day ZZ Top is coming to town!
The next day (Tuesday, Dec. 1), American Rock group ZZ Top will be performing at the Pengrowth Saddledome at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are also available through Ticketmaster.
Some people don’t like loud music, and that’s totally okay,
as a really bad headache can ruin your day;
So if things like costumes and dancing is what you’d prefer,
go see the So You Think You Can Dance Canada Top 10 Tour!
So You Think You Can Dance? Well, these couples definitely can! The So You Think You Can Dance Canada Top 10 Tour will be stopping in Calgary on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Come see SYTYCDC’s top ten finalists as they showcase their incredible talents! Show time is at 7:30 p.m. and tickets for this event are available through Ticketmaster.
Now, Holiday time is nice, but if you’re anything like me,
looking at the snow and feeling a little melancholy,
waiting for Stampede time and rodeo to reappear,
well don’t you worry, because Bull Riding is here!
Last, but definitely not least, the PBR: Canadian Cup National Finals is coming to the Saddledome! Come see over 30 of the craziest, most skilled bull riders in Canada participate in the “Toughest Sport on Dirt” as they try to survive an eight-second ride on the back of a bull. The competition will be held on Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. on both nights. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
So that’s about it for this week’s weekly highlights,
varied once again; Lots of choice, you’ve got that right!
I’m not sure how to end this, in a way that is neat,
so I’ll end with this statement: We’ll see you here next week!
Happy Holidays, everyone!
